After five years of corporate America I had had enough. It just wasn’t me, too many rules and no room to express myself. Hands on creativity has always been my passion and you can’t do much inside a cubicle 29 floors above the world’s biggest slab of concrete. Truth is I kind of missed being home, so I came up with the idea to bring something cool and tasty home with me
I learned how to bake on the job. I was taught for three years how to roll dough, measure formulas and ice beautiful carrot cakes all while attending the College of Charleston. There truly is nothing like going in to work at 4am, filling the bread baskets and display cases with breads, cakes and pastries, and then going to a 1 o’clock Statistics class. Maybe the GPA did suffer, but I learned the more important lesson of hard work and how to bake a great cake.
So here I am, back in my hometown of Greenport, surrounded by family and friends, and focused on creating a distinctive bakery here on the tip of the North Fork.
Butta’Cakes specializes in cupcakes but we don’t stop there. We also create amazing cakes, breads, pastries, and select breakfast and lunch items that are focused on local ingredients and small batch baking.
